It is our pleasure to inform you about the newest publication by the Ivan Meštrović Museums and the Croatian-Czech Society - a book entitled Ivan Meštrović and the Czechs: Examples of Croatian‐Czech Cultural and Political Reciprocity (Croatian: Ivan Meštrović i Česi: primjeri hrvatsko-češke kulturne i političke uzajamnosti).
The publication is bilingual, with texts in Croatian and English as well as summaries in Czech. The texts are accompanied by numerous illustrations, many of which are being published for the first time. The book, divided into four main parts, presents many, until now, unknown facts. It thus contributes greatly to the understanding of Croatian-Czech artistic and political relations, of which one of the main protagonists is Ivan Meštrović, as well as the Masaryk family and Croatian (Petar Pallavicini, Ivan Skokandić, Robert Jean-Ivanović, Petar Bibić, Nikola Bodrožić, Frano Kršinić, Trpimir Ivančević, Dragutin Varlaj, Frano Meneghello, Viktor Samuel Bernfest, Ivan Mirković, Ignac Besediček, Josip Ivan Wichra, Mirko Grozdenović) and Czech artists (Růžena Zátková i Bohumil Kafka).
We are extremely proud that the texts of the leader of our project team, assistant professor Dalibor Prančević, Ph.D. and those of our project team member, Barbara Vujanović, Senior Curator of Atelier Meštrović, are now published in this book as the result of their research on the Crosculpture project (Manifestations of Modern Sculpture in Croatia:Sculpture on the Crossroads Between Socio-political Pragmatism, Economic Possibilities and Aesthetical Contemplation), funded by the Croatian Science Foundation.
The promotion will be held in Atelier Meštrović in Zagreb this Friday, September 21, 2018, starting at 7 p.m. You may find detailed information about the promotion and the texts included in the book in the image and document attached to this post (albeit in Croatian).
We are looking forward to seeing you at the promotion!
